Renowned entrepreneur and Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, known for his direct communication style, offered a surprising reaction to Apple’s cancellation of its electric car project. The tech giant’s decision to abandon its decade-long pursuit of an electric vehicle (EV) has stirred discussions within the tech community.

Being at the helm of Tesla, Musk possesses a unique perspective on the intricacies of car manufacturing. Tesla’s success in disrupting the market with innovative, high-performance, and sustainable electric vehicles reinforces Musk’s belief that building cars involves challenges beyond those faced by makers of phones or smartwatches.

In a 2015 interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt, Musk cheekily referred to Apple as a “Tesla graveyard,” implying that those who couldn’t make it at Tesla ended up at Apple. The rivalry between these tech giants stands out as a potentially epic narrative.

Apple’s departure from EVs aligns with a broader trend of global automakers adjusting their electric strategies. The fluctuating demand for EVs has led companies like Ford and General Motors to revise production targets. Notably, Chinese company BYD has surpassed Tesla as the world’s leading EV maker, highlighting a dynamic and competitive landscape.

As Apple shifts its focus to generative artificial intelligence (AI), its ambitious car plans appear to be on hold. Given Apple’s lack of public commentary on the car project, it remains unclear whether the company might revive the now-defunct endeavor.
